The complete Doctor Mix reconstruction of The Final Countdown, the 1986 Europe single that went to No. 1 in 25 countries. Every part was rebuilt note by note, then mixed to sit right next to the original, as shown in the video.

That fanfare was never a single synth. On the record it was a Yamaha TX-816 and a Roland JX-8P stacked together. Here it is a JX-8P "Stab Brass" (in ZENOLOGY Pro) layered with a reworked DX7 brass sound. The intro, the pads and the low synth come from three separate Jupiter-8 patches, and the bass was played for real, with a pick.

You get the stereo master, 29 main stems with their processing printed, and the three individual horn layers if you want to rebuild the fanfare yourself. There is also MIDI for every part of the song: a complete arrangement plus 28 individual parts in the original instrument mapping, and a General MIDI drum version for any kit.

Use it to study the arrangement, practise mixing a big 80s rock record, pull the horn stack apart, or drop the MIDI onto your own synths.

Produced from scratch by Doctor Mix. Every part was re-played and re-programmed in our London studio. This session contains no samples, stems or audio taken from the original master recording. No Cubase project, presets or sample libraries are included. Not affiliated with Europe or Epic Records.
