Released in 1999, Flat Beat by Mr. Oizo became one of the defining tracks of the French electronic music movement. Built around its instantly recognizable distorted bassline and stripped-back groove, the track crossed over from underground clubs into global pop culture through the iconic Flat Eric Levi’s commercials. Against all odds for an instrumental dance record, Flat Beat reached No. 1 across Europe and helped shape the raw electro sound that influenced a generation of producers. Today, it remains a landmark of late-90s electronic music — celebrated for its minimalism, attitude, and unmistakable sonic identity.
Produced from scratch by Doctor Mix. Every part was re-played and re-recorded in our London studio — this session contains no samples, stems or audio taken from the original master recording.
