There aren’t too many synthesizers whose sound can claim to be in space, but the MiniMoog is a rare exception. A recording featuring the distinctive tones of the MiniMoog earned its place on NASA’s Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 spacecraft’s Golden Record. Launched in 1977 to explore the outer reaches of our solar system, these spacecraft carry a musical ambassadorship from Earth into the vastness of the cosmos.

The MiniMoog is a monophonic analog synthesizer introduced by Moog Music in 1970. It quickly gained popularity among musicians for its rich and warm sound, as well for its versatility & portability.

It boasts three Voltage-Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) capable of generating sawtooth, square, and triangle waveforms. The MiniMoog’s 24 dB/octave low-pass filter imparts a characteristic warmth, modifiable through the envelope generator for diverse sound sculpting. To further colour the sound it also features a noise generator. The MiniMoog’s compact design, powerful VCOs, distinctive filter, and creative modulation options have solidified its status as an iconic and versatile analog synthesizer.
